Antialiasing
The process of removing or reducing the jagged distortions in curves and diagonal lines so that the lines appear smooth or smoother.
 
Artifacts/Artefact
A visual error, not normally present but visible as a result of an action (eg. a loss of resolution when zooming into an image)
 
 
Bitmap
A set of bits that represents a graphic image, with each bit or group of bits corresponding to a pixel in the image.
 
 
Orthogonal
Relating to or composed of right angles.

 

Perspective
The technique of representing three-dimensional objects and depth relationships on a two-dimensional surface.
 
Pixel
The basic unit of the composition of an image on a television screen, computer monitor, or similar display.
 
Render
To create an image from a description of a scene, its objects and light sources and the viewer.
 
Texture map
A bitmap used to texture a 3D polygon model, including adjustments for perspective correction, where vertices of the object model are mapped onto the 2D texture bitmap.
