'There's so much to do!  Our communities are falling apart, young people, old people, brown people, black people, poor people, and lots of other people aren't getting the respect or power they deserve.  Why play games when there's so much work to do?'  *

In this unit we will be taking a journey towards becoming a game designer.  We will start by looking at different types of games, why people play them and the good and bad effects of games on ourselves and society.  We will be learning to think in different ways and we will learn how to make our own computer games.

When you go on a journey you often keep a diary of your trip, and that's just what we will be doing.  Your diary can be kept either in an exercise book, or as a Word document on your Home drive, or even as a blog. If you have good access to computers you might like keep notes using Webnote http://www.aypwip.org/webnote/. In it you should include your thoughts and ideas about games, what you are learning, what you have been successful with and problems you are having.  You can include drawings of your game designs and characters as you make your game.

So let's get started! Work through the links on the left.
