Video can form a very effective means of recording student learning. Use of a simple video camera, such as the Flip, makes this task much simpler.

Audio File Formats
What if I recorded my narration in Movie Maker, but now want to edit it in Audacity?MovieMaker stores its narration files as .wma (Windows Media Audio) files. This is a proprietary format, so cannot be opened in Audacity, but you can easily convert the format to .wav by using a converter program.
Beethink Audio Converter http://www.beethink.com/AudioConverter.htm is a free program which will convert .wma to .wav format so it can be edited in Audacity.
Use of Video to Record Learning
Plumbing and dairy farming apprentices at TAFE Tasmania in 2008 trialled the wearing of video eyeglasses while they performed certain tasks. These videos were then used for assessment.http://e-standards.flexiblelearning.net.au/fundingopportunities/2008-et-outcomes.htm#et2
Students can video tasks they perform, such as a science experiment, a cooking task, or construction of an item using either a head mounted camera (Flip Video has a head mount accessory), or a tripod mounted camera, or another student with a hand held camera.
Asking students to record a narration afterwards gives them the opportunity to reflect on their learning and demonstrate understanding of the processes involved.
